Sony A550 with Sony CZ 16-80 F3.5-4.5 Review

After purchase the camera for 2 weeks, now only got time to sit down update the review. Few key things the reason i want to upgrade this camera - ISO, live view and also Carl Zeiss lens (in cantonese sound like dog shit). Sony A550 also included some compact camera features when enable live view:- face detection and smile shutter. Both features not helping and improving the picture quality but something fun to play with. Another additional features is HDR. The camera will automatically take 2 pictures and auto-compose a HDR effect. This really help when taking landscape.

I have been struggling what to buy to replace my lovely A200. Due to budget concern A850 no longer in my list, the only choice will be A550. First come across this camera in http://www.dpreview.com/previews/sonydslra550/, the review show excellent ISO and also LiveView added into this camera, performance better than A700 with comparable price?! Really unbelievable, until i start checking the price through several blog, the cheapest price they show was RM4700 for body + Sony CZ 16-80mm.

Previously price check for Sony CZ16-80mm was RM2350, lucky that time did not buy. After checked for few shops, end up i got a good deal in one of the shop with RM4050 !!! 1 week later, the shop sales person only tell me they make mistake on the pricing tag, suppose selling at RM4600. HAHAHA ... what a lucky day !

Bali 2009

Short trip to Bali on 26Sep (Sat) til 29Sep (Tue), only have 2 full days for sight seeing. We did not cover alot of places, since the gals would like to spend more time on shopping.

Basically I did not involve in any planning of this trip ... don't even know where I'll be going until we reached the location. Until now also don't really recall which picture belongs to which location. (have to google the tourist spot and match back my picture... hehe)

First day, first location - Taman Ayun Temple, the royal temple.

New gear ... tripod + flash + bag

Shopping time again ...

First of all, got my new bag - Kata DR 467 i can carry laptop + camera, cost me RM300. "i" version got extra strap to hold tripod, additional RM20 compare to the same bag that without the "i". I choose this cos of the "green" color. Don't you think this bag look like a KATAK (Frog).

I was told KATA started the business with bullet proof jacket, but wonder why they want to make this "bullet proof bag" look likes a frog.

Frog open up the big mouth ... camera compartment can store 4 lenses and 1 body.

First Sunset Shooting

After my housemate got his 5D Mark II, another friend (so called "The most successful engineer in Penang") also decided to move into full frame, NIKON D700. After the shopping about 6pm, they need to test out their RM7-8K camera ... sunset will be our choice !

Tokina 28-70mm f2.8 lens look better in term of sharpness and contrast.

Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 Review

Got my new sigma 10-20mm and tested with few shooting. A bit disappointed with the vignetting effect cause by the lens. To make myself feel better, i'll take this a very good experience on how to test and evaluate a lens on the vignetting effect.

Below is the test I do on my sigma 10-20mm taken with different aperture and zoom at 10/14/20mm. Look like I only can use the lens at 20mm or aperture > 8.

I'm poisoned by my good housemate ... also other friends who into photography. At first i thought spending RM1350 on a body+kit lens should be reasonable for a beginner. End up proven i'm wrong because I never satisfy with "normal". haha ... until today, I have spent ~RM7K for all my camera gadget. Omg ... i'm out of control !!!

Someone please stop me from buying more n more. I feel so guilty after spending money ... is that normal? To make myself feel better, I decided from today onwards i have to control my spending until end of the year ... (if got increment n promotion then will be different stories ... haha)

Pangkor Trip

12 years ago, Pulau Pangkor is 1 of the destination for our Form 3 holiday trip.

12 years later revisit Pangkor Island proof that I having problem remember things ... must the the alcohol things that kill alot of my brain cell. Anyway, at least got few places i still have some memory; the shop we bought alot local souvenir (junk food & snack), and also the beach/island that we had football game.
1st piority still photo shooting ... we only got less than 24 hours ! The cloudy sky really give me headache specially with my kit lens ... haih ... looks like wide angle will be my next target ! Lucky i still have my f2.8 can use to take a few shoot. Better than nothing ...

Start !

After I get involve in photography, I have decided to create a blog to keep my favorite pictures. At first thought facebook would be my choice, but seem like the quality of the picture degraded significantly. Since many famous photographers also sharing picture in blog, this might be a good start for me to create mine as well.

Take this as a practice to improve my English essay writing as well... another reason will be "I'm too boring !!!" hahaha ... looking for something to do. Hope this won't be my final post ...
